This is very exciting for me! After two and a half months of sitting on my butt feeling useless I am now able to bring in some cash and make our lives a little better. What are we going to do with said extra income? Can you say Wii, XBox, PS3? I can!

The best part about this employment situation is in a year I'll be eligible to receive free tuition for my graduate degree. 8 credit hours a semester means I can get a degree done in a little over 2 years. Which is AWESOME!

So, as you can probably tell, I am beyond excited about this turn of events. I'm a little nervous simply because this job requires me to speak Spanish. I have taken plenty of Spanish classes but until I start work there in late-November, early-December, I am going to study my butt off. Maybe hubby and I can have CDC/Spanish Vocab sessions in the evenings...

Employment

So I went for an interview at the local university on Tuesday and went back for a second interview today. I'll find out if I get the position tomorrow. Holy moly! I really hope I get this. I need something to do before I got absolutely nuts!

What would I be doing?

I'd basically be keeping the front desk under control for the neurology department at the university. I would also be in charge of office supplies, DHL deliveries, and helping out the docs and clinicians. It sounds interesting and the pay is pretty good. I'd effectively be doubling my husband's take-home income, which would be LOVELY!

So here's to hoping I get this position! It's just how we are, nothing to be ashamed of (at least I hope). Anyway, I've had my account hacked twice and he's had his account hacked once through stupid keyloggers. Well, we finally decided we've had enough of this ridiculous hacking by Chinese gold farmers. So, we installed our little Blizzard Authenticator key-fab thingies. I dare anyone to try to hack our accounts now! Though, knowing our luck and the rabid furiousity of tech geeks online, they will have a way to hack an account with a authenticator in about, oh, 3 months. And so the battle between good and evil continues...

In other news, it's raining and miserable in New Mexico right now. And it's cold. Tonight is also our date night so we'll see where that takes us, but I'm rooting for Olive Garden, even though I'm pretty sure we did that last week. It's not my fault I love Italian food! It's genetic, I swear!

Veteran's Day

I am happy to report that there are multiple opportunities this year for veterans and active duty military people to get recognition (and some monetary breaks) for their military service. Oddly enough, this is strange to me. Back in Michigan, I never remember hearing anything about military discounts or veteran's day shindigs at restaurants. But suddenly this year, I'm hearing about them, not only in New Mexico but also in Michigan. This makes me happy! And it's not just because I'm a military spouse or because I'm looking for a deal or something or because my husband is military but because it shows me that just maybe people are starting to really appreciate the veterans.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that people appreciate the military men and women in their lives but for once I'm seeing people showing their appreciation in other ways other than just simple "thank you's". This makes me very proud!

So to all those military members, veterans, and military spouses, I wish you all a happy Veteran's Day and thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you (and your families) do for this country!

~Z~

First Post of Many

It's currently 03:43 local time. I should be sleeping as should hubby but instead I am sitting up making this blog and thinking about playing some more WoW. Sad huh? It's not my fault I'm hopelessly addicted to Warcrack. It's my stress reliever.

I should explain a little about why I am making this blog. Well, my friend Shannon, an Air Force wife as well, has a blog and she suggested, many many months ago that I should also make a blog. Well, Shannon, now I have a blog. You have convinced me through your awesomeness that is blogging to join the blogosphere or whatever it is you bloggy bloggers call it.

After saying that, I should warn that I am very bad at making posts on anything. And, therefor, I cannot promise how well this is going to go. What can you expect from this blog? Just updates about what is going on in my life and in the life of my husband. Maybe some musings here and there and, sadly, probably tons of pictures of our cats. Yes, I know, it's sad but true...

A little bit more about us you ask?

Well, hubby (hence forth known as K), joined the Air Force in December 08, 4 months after we got married and left for his basic training and technical training. That lasted a good 8 months, almost 9 months, and then we were off to our first station: Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico! It was a very big change for both of us. Neither one of us had been so far away from our family before but I am happy to report that we are both very happy here in New Mexico. It's warmer than Michigan, so we can't complain!

I suppose much of this blog will also focus around the fact that I am a military wife. And I must report, as well, that I am enjoying my role. It gets a bit boring from time to time, what with my not being employed currently, but I do find that it gives me time to pursue some of my more important interests (writing and gaming).

I hope that this blog will be insightful to some as I will probably discuss the trials and tribulations of being a military wife, as well as some general life lessons and intriguing stories or banter. But for now, I think I will end it here.

Happy Veteran's Day to everyone, especially those who have served or are serving our country as we speak. We appreciate every one of you and honor the sacrifices you have or are making!

~Z~
